8GB vs 16GB RAM

Choose memory capacity according to applications, multitasking and upgradeability.

Eight gigabytes supports basic work

Documents, browsing, email and online classes can run well on eight gigabytes when the system also has a suitable processor and SSD. Heavy browser use can still consume much of it.

Sixteen gigabytes provides more working space

It is useful for heavier multitasking, large spreadsheets, programming tools, statistics, virtual meetings, design and many professional applications.

More RAM does not fix every bottleneck

A very old processor, failing storage or poor cooling can remain slow even with more memory. Evaluate the full system.

Check upgradeability

Some laptops have soldered memory. Confirm whether additional RAM can be installed before buying.
