Laptop Battery Health Guide

Understand battery condition, runtime, heat and honest testing for new and refurbished laptops.

Author: LEOSOFT Technical TeamPublished: 25 July 2026Updated: 25 July 2026

Battery percentage is not battery health

A battery showing one hundred percent charge can still have reduced capacity. Health information should be considered together with a practical runtime test.

Heat accelerates ageing

Blocked ventilation, heavy heat and unsuitable charging conditions can shorten battery life. Keep vents clear and avoid leaving a hot laptop inside a closed vehicle or bag.

Use realistic expectations

Runtime depends on screen brightness, applications, wireless use and battery age. Refurbished product pages should use a test note or range rather than a universal promise.

Plan replacement

Before buying an older model, check whether a quality replacement battery is available and affordable.
